  4. Policies and Procedures

    Code of Conduct & Attendance

Pulse Radiology enforces a Two-Strike Policy. Any unprofessional behavior, repeated tardiness, or unexcused absence from clinical training will not be tolerated. Clinical training is an extension of the classroom and should be treated as a live interview for future employment opportunities. Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and teamwork at all times. If a student cannot attend a scheduled clinical rotation, they must notify both their Clinical Coordinator and the assigned technologist/site as far in advance as possible. For illness or emergencies, students must contact their Clinical Coordinator and the clinical site immediately.

    Communication

Students must use the same Pulse Radiology email address for all program-related communication until program completion. Students are expected to remain responsive to emails from Pulse Radiology staff, Clinical Coordinators, and clinical affiliates.

    Dress Code

Students are required to comply with the following dress standards (in conjunction with site-specific policies):

    • Solid-colored scrubs or professional business casual attire.
    • Closed-toe, non-slip shoes.
    • Pulse Radiology badge worn above the waist at all times.

    Clinical Documentation

Students must complete and maintain the Clinical Case Checklist (Week 13 document). Technologists should initial each competency exam that the student completes independently. Students must record all observed, assisted, and independently performed exams. A copy of the checklist must be submitted to the Clinical Coordinator twice per month.

    Clinical Requirements & Eligibility

All didactic coursework must be completed prior to clinical training unless otherwise authorized by the Clinical Coordinator. A minimum grade average of 75% is required to qualify for clinical placement. Students are not permitted to contact clinical sites directly until official approval and placement confirmation is provided by the Clinical Coordinator. Any violation may result in loss of placement opportunities.

    Clinical Placement & Scheduling

Clinical sites are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Start dates for clinical rotations are subject to change at the discretion of the clinical site.

    Radiation Safety & Dosimetry

Students will be issued a control and radiation dosimeter from Landauer. Dosimeters and return bags must be returned at the end of clinical training. Failure to return will result in a $30 Failure to Return Fee and may leave no documented record of exposure.

    Pregnancy Policy

If a student becomes pregnant or suspects pregnancy, disclosure is voluntary. Students who notify the Clinical Coordinator in writing will be provided with a fetal dosimeter to ensure safety. Final decisions regarding continued participation in clinical training will be determined by the student in consultation with her physician. Pulse Radiology will support accommodations to protect both the student and fetus.
